Mourning Dove (miniature) I would have to say that the Mourning Dove is one of my favorite birds. I just love the subtle coloring. Of course, their mournful coo is a favorite of mine, too. Here in Delaware, on a cold winter day you can see the doves nestled in grass and soaking up the sun’s rays. They will fluff their feathers to get every bit of the sun’s warmth. They are a wonder to behold! This Mourning Dove is made of tupelo wood and acrylic paint. I turned the base out of cherry wood.
