Semi-palmated Plover (life-size) The Semi-palmated Plover is a shorebird I often see along the Delaware and New Jersey shorelines. This particular piece is the Semi-palmated Plover featured in my book, Shorebird Carving. The chapter in the book covers carving, texturing, and painting of the Semi-palmated Plover and also how to construct the rock base. The Semi-palmated Plover is made of tupelo wood and acrylic paints. The rock base is carved of pinewood and completed by painting with modeling paste and acrylic paints.
