Indigo Bunting (life-size) The Indigo Bunting is a bird I often glimpse driving the back roads of the Delmarva Peninsula. The brilliant blue male will cross the road from a hedgerow on one side to a hedgerow on the other. If the sun is shining, the bird will resemble a bright blue bulb exploding over the road. The color of its plumage is unmistakably the Indigo’s own! This particular carving is made of tupelo wood and acrylic paints. The base I turned for this piece is butternut wood.
