Common Yellowthroat (life-size) The Common Yellowthroat male is easily recognized because of his black mask. He looks like a little bandit! The males are very territorial and will sing a few scrambled notes while flying upward a short distance. I often see him clinging to a cattail around the edges of a marsh. This Yellowthroat is made of tupelo wood and acrylic paints. I turned the base out of walnut wood.
